The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development is in the process of writing a State Digital Opportunity Plan to qualify for federal funds to support new statewide programs concerning digital skills, literacy, inclusion, and affordability.
The Broadband Office wants to ensure the inclusion of all Tennesseans in this plan and future efforts. Per federal requirements, we seek input from 8 covered populations (aging individuals, English language learners, individuals with disabilities, recently incarcerated individuals, racial/ethnic minorities, low-income households, rural residents, and veterans). We are contacting you because libraries are hubs for digital opportunity work and often serve the covered populations in Tennessee. Linked here is a brief survey our team put together to capture digital needs. Please share this survey with the communities you serve. The survey will not collect any personal identifying information.
We hope you will join us in pushing toward a future where all Tennesseans have digital opportunities! The information we collect with the survey will be instrumental in including all Tennesseans in the state’s Digital Opportunity Plan.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact Leah Mims (leah.mims@tn.gov ) or Codi Drake (codi.drake@tn.gov) to connect. If you know of organizations that serve the covered populations listed above, please provide the organization name and contact information to our team so we can connect with them. Feel free to send the link to the survey to your contacts.
Thank you for helping the state of Tennessee close the digital divide.
