Friends of the Library: Welcome

The Friends of the Art Circle Public Library is a non-profit 501(C)3, volunteer organization that works to further the goals of the Art Circle Public Library.  Working with the Library Director and staff, the Friends of the Library foster fellowship among persons interested in books and libraries, support the facilities and services of the library, and enrich cultural opportunities in the community.

History of the Art Circle Public Library Friends of the Library

In 1984 ten women, interested in expanding the library’s services and providing more learning opportunities in the community, founded the Friends of the Art Circle Public Library.  Over the years the friends membership has grown steadily and now several hundred Cumberland County residents continue to carry out the ideals and hopes of the founders through membership in the Friends of the Library.

In 2010 through their fund raising efforts in the community the Friends were able to donate $90,000 to the then NEW Library.

In 2011 the Friends of the Art Circle Library were presented the very first "Friend of the Year" state wide award sponsored jointly by the Tennessee Library Association and the Friends of Tennessee Libraries.

The Friends of the Art Circle Public Library continue to foster citizen's interest in supporting a superior library, one equipped with staff, collections, programs and facilities to serve the cultural needs of an expanding community.
